[CDC] Tricks of the Trade [Closed!]
« on: July 11, 2017, 01:46:30 PM »
Greetings, fellow card designers.

Long over, winner was Benionin. Judgement and some entries have been victims of the Forum reset & Transfer.

The main unique feature of IW are the simultaneous turns, no questions. However, there is another fairly unique feature that often gets overlooked: The Trading Post. Many close victories have been achieved by drawing just the right card with this mechanic (although most of the time you probably get annoyed by drawing the card you just shuffled back time and time again), yet there is not a single card in the game to interact with this mechanic. So, here is the challenge:

Create a card that interacts with the Trading Post.

No restrictions on purity, card types or cost. Every kind of interaction with the Trading Post (yours, your opponents or both) counts. It must be an interaction with the Trading Post specifically though, interaction with (unspecified) card draw or max. resource increase alone is not enough.

--- Card Design Challenge Rules ---
1) The Judge appoints a challenge, it can be anything, making new card, redesigning an old one or whatever you wish.
2) All that wish to participate submit their card design. Each participant may only submit one entry per challenge, you may however edit your post as many times as you wish till the deadline.
3) If you edit your post you should make an additional post in this thread informing of the edit to make sure that the updated version of the card will be judged. The post should contain the full updated card details as well as a brief summary of what changed from your original submission.
4) After an announced deadline the Judge decides a winner. The winner then becomes the Judge for the next round.
5) All entries submitted before the deadline are guaranteed feedback, either in this thread or in another detailed feedback thread.

PRIZES
1st place: 3 alt art packs and 3 collection penta packs
2nd place: 2 alt art packs and 2 collection penta packs
3rd place: 1 alt art pack and 1 collection penta pack
All participants who submit an entry will receive a collection penta pack

Advanced Asset Allocation
Factionless
Mission
Rare
Cost 0

Opening
You may only have 1 copy of this card in your deck, it is ignored by the decks card count.
If you use the trading post to shuffle a non-Unlimited card from your hand into the deck and you draw a card with the same name as the one shuffled, it is shuffled into your deck and you draw again. (Unless those are the only cards left in the deck)

With proper management of resources and personnel we can ensure that we are better equipped when things don't go according to plan.

"But why doesn't it just work like this by default?" "Shut up Greg."

Just because. ::)

(But seriously it should be draw THEN shuffle, not shuffle then draw, that way you can't get back the card you literally just tossed, wouldn't have to change the text or animation or anything, just make the draw happen first.)

Mercantile Ritualist
Neutral purity
1 cost
5 morale
Character- Human

Pay 2, Sacrifice a human or demon character, exhaust: Trade post costs are all decreased by 1 permanently to a minimum of 1. This may only be used if Mercantile Ritualist is deployed.

0/5

"Oh lord Blingblingacash, God of Wealth, take this sacrifice and bless us with good profit margins, plentiful investors and satisfied shareholders!" The knife falls, blood splatters, incense induced frenzied cheering ensues.

Scary part is, I can see this going infinite and crashing your game. The number of times I've traded away something to get it back... or traded it and rolled again only to swap between the same two cards wasting all my resources in a single turn...

Name: Toll at the Crossroads
Faction/Purity: Factionless
Type: Unique Mission
Rarity: Epic
Cost: 0
Rules Text:
Opening
Each time a player uses the Trading Post by paying at least one resource, Toll at the Crossroads becomes 10% complete.
When Toll at the Crossroads becomes 100% complete, halve the fortress health and unit morale of both players. Both players send all cards in play and in their hands to the graveyard, then draw five cards. Toll at the Crossroads is removed from the game.
If either player suffers more than 35 points of fortress or morale damage while Toll at the Crossroads is in play, remove Toll at the Crossroads and the top 15 cards of both players' decks from play.

Restructure
2 purity CoV - Common
1 cost
Ability

When played, you may Overcharge it any number of times. Draw X+1 cards, where X is the number of Overcharged cards. If you draw at least 1 Restructure after you shuffle hand into deck on first turn, draw one additional card.

This card gives you the chance to get a new starting hand without dropping in card hand size and will allow you to get rid of cards in hand you feel you don't need for new ones. Perfect for a control deck.
