[CDC] Flight of the Dragons *CLOSED*
« on: January 02, 2017, 06:34:19 PM »
I feel this challenge is long overdue. Read the title. Nuff' Said.

Create a NON-WP card with the dragon subtype, or that influences the subtype which gives dragons a more prominent presence in the game. It is encouraged that the card not be another beat stick, but an enabler card to give dragons a viable mid-game presence

--- Card Design Challenge Rules ---
1) The Judge appoints a challenge, it can be anything, making new card, redesigning an old one or whatever you wish.
2) All that wish to participate submit their card design. Each participant may only submit one entry per challenge, you may however edit your post as many times as you wish till the deadline.
3) If you edit your post you should make an additional post in this thread informing of the edit to make sure that the updated version of the card will be judged. The post should contain the full updated card details as well as a brief summary of what changed from your original submission.
4) After an announced deadline the Judge decides a winner. The winner then becomes the Judge for the next round.
5) All entries submitted before the deadline are guaranteed feedback, either in this thread or in another detailed feedback thread.

Select a dragon you have in hand or in play. Pay a resource cost equal to half the cost of selected card(rounded down). Create a spirit dragon copy of the card in support with half the stats of selected card(rounded down).

At the end of each turn, create a X/X flying dragon character in your support zone, where X is the amount of dragons in play and in your hand.
Are you telling me that THESE are just the little ones?!

Comment:
Right now, playing a real dragon deck would not do you any favor. This card can start putting an increasingly dominant threat. It's goal is to get you a bit closer to that turn 10.
Although the dragons seem strong, you need to remind yourself that you'd need a whole lot of dragon's in your hand + command zone before this card would become OP. Although if you think that the cost is a little cheap, let me know.

Dragon's Lair
Factionless
Location
Cost 2

Dragons you control cost 2 less resources to deploy.
At the start of each turn all dragons you control get +1/+1 and heal 2 damage.
As long as you control a deployed dragon, enemy characters enter combat with the dragon instead of attacking your fortress.
At the end of the turn if your fortress has been attacked by an enemy character your opponent gains 1 extra resource next turn.

"Invading a dragon's lair is perilous indeed, but there's always a chance one may be able to escape with some of the dragon's treasure."

Unfortunately I dont see dragons as a tribal race, I feel they are more like independent predators sort of like hawks. Reason being they are extremely strong on their own instilling a sort of pride making them more likely to work on their own and be extremely territorial

Chronos, the Dragon of Time
Purity: Factionless
Cost: 5
Morale: 12
Type: Unique Character - Dragon
Stats: 10/10

Flying

Exhaust: The next dragon you play costs 4 less. You have 4 less resources for the duration of your next turn.

While having a weak body for a dragon, Chronos can call upon his mastery of time to conjure his brethren for aid, long before they would reach the battlefield on their own.

Name: Dragon Cultist
Faction/Purity: Factionless
Type: Unlimited Character- Human
Rarity: Common
Cost: 2
Morale: 5
Attack/Health: 4/5
Rules Text:
If Dragon Cultist is a commander, characters in your deck may only be Dragon Cultists and characters with the dragon sub-type, regardless of purity.

If Dragon Cultist is in the command zone, ALL dragons cost 1 less to play.
(yours and opponents)

Sacrifice Dragon Cultist: Dragons cost 2 less to play this turn. Use only while deployed.

Flavor Text: "When the dragons poured through the rifts, some humans gave up their faction allegiances and began to worship the dragons themselves." (artwork should be something like cultists praying to a dragon or a 'messiah' Coyle)

Comments: And a dragon enabler you shall have! Make a dragon deck  by running these in command; but beware, for your opponent also gets that ramp. Run these in other factions and make your dragons a playable mid game threat! The sacrifice ability here makes it so that if you're using these alone to ramp,  you are essentially just banking some of the early game resources for a faster dragon play but you lose the creature in exchange for the dragon so you don't get much in the way of offense/defense before your dragons come out... dangerous strategy!. Although, they can be run in any deck, so the cost of these cultist allows (with BLBP) a turn 3,  5 cost Hunted Dragon (if i mathed correctly), but of course you then give the opponent a dragon killing spell along with the multitude of turn 3 kill /control spells that may/may not have been used yet (all you did was play ramp and temporary dragon ramp!).
