[CDC] Flight of the Dragons *CLOSED*

I feel this challenge is long overdue. Read the title. Nuff' Said.

Create a NON-WP card with the dragon subtype, or that influences the subtype which gives dragons a more prominent presence in the game. It is encouraged that the card not be another beat stick, but an enabler card to give dragons a viable mid-game presence

--- Card Design Challenge Rules ---
1) The Judge appoints a challenge, it can be anything, making new card, redesigning an old one or whatever you wish.
2) All that wish to participate submit their card design. Each participant may only submit one entry per challenge, you may however edit your post as many times as you wish till the deadline.
3) If you edit your post you should make an additional post in this thread informing of the edit to make sure that the updated version of the card will be judged. The post should contain the full updated card details as well as a brief summary of what changed from your original submission.
4) After an announced deadline the Judge decides a winner. The winner then becomes the Judge for the next round.

Comment:
Right now, playing a real dragon deck would not do you any favor. This card can start putting an increasingly dominant threat. It's goal is to get you a bit closer to that turn 10.
Although the dragons seem strong, you need to remind yourself that you'd need a whole lot of dragon's in your hand + command zone before this card would become OP. Although if you think that the cost is a little cheap, let me know.

Dragons you control cost 2 less resources to deploy.
At the start of each turn all dragons you control get +1/+1 and heal 2 damage.
As long as you control a deployed dragon, enemy characters enter combat with the dragon instead of attacking your fortress.
At the end of the turn if your fortress has been attacked by an enemy character your opponent gains 1 extra resource next turn.

"Invading a dragon's lair is perilous indeed, but there's always a chance one may be able to escape with some of the dragon's treasure."

Essentially a dragons home and treasure hoard, attacking enemies may find a dragon within and be forced to fight, or can get away with some of its unguarded treasure.

Prevents fortress damage even against characters with unblockable (or flying if you have no flying or reach defenders) and allows for more enemy character death but at the cost of your dragons health.

Doesn't give the owner a lot of control (although if you have multiple dragons deployed you can re-order them to choose which one will enter combat, since the game works from left to right), so the opponent can play around it, they can benefit from it by taking out your dragons and hitting your fortress every turn, so it promotes keeping your dragons alive and/or focusing more on defense.

Basically you use it for the cost decrease and the recurring buff but have to pay for it if anything gets through to your fortress.

Unfortunately I dont see dragons as a tribal race, I feel they are more like independent predators sort of like hawks. Reason being they are extremely strong on their own instilling a sort of pride making them more likely to work on their own and be extremely territorial

Comments: And a dragon enabler you shall have! Make a dragon deck  by running these in command; but beware, for your opponent also gets that ramp. Run these in other factions and make your dragons a playable mid game threat! The sacrifice ability here makes it so that if you're using these alone to ramp,  you are essentially just banking some of the early game resources for a faster dragon play but you lose the creature in exchange for the dragon so you don't get much in the way of offense/defense before your dragons come out... dangerous strategy!. Although, they can be run in any deck, so the cost of these cultist allows (with BLBP) a turn 3,  5 cost Hunted Dragon (if i mathed correctly), but of course you then give the opponent a dragon killing spell along with the multitude of turn 3 kill /control spells that may/may not have been used yet (all you did was play ramp and temporary dragon ramp!).

A cool idea, but limited by the limiting number of dragon cards in the game and is still effectively a 2p card since most dragons are still 2p. Ultimately, another card that wouldn't see much play

Again, a cool card limited by purities, not to mention the fact it would take a bit to make this card to have any noticable impact on the current game. Its another snowball card, but it takes way too long to get any sort of momentum going.

If by some miracle you manage to get this card out and also have a dragon or two you're pretty much guaranteed to win. The problem is, the game will be over loooooooong before this card ever sees the light of day.

This card would combo stupidly well with Ao Shun. I could see dragon stall potentially becoming a deck archetype for 3p DoD. If you manage to get this out AND Ao Shun your opponent cannot win the game until he is dealt with. And with the 2 cost reduction, it does become possible rather than laughable.

Truthfully, while its a dynamic card, its just too much of a resource sink to warrant any serious usage. Could be nice to drop for a 2 turn beat-stick, but not much more than that.

Ouch. While it definitely enables you to get a dragon out sooner than you would normally, you effectively have to give up 2 turns of tempo to make it work. Even at 10 resource, your still doing more harm to yourself than good. One kill spell and 3 turns of work can be instantly vaporized.

Now this is something I would actually *try* to play. While it still would be a long ways away from a meta deck, it definitely would have a very commanding late game presence if you could make it survive. By sacrificing your early game and relying on abilities/chump blocking, if you could keep a few cultists around until the midgame you can make it rain dragon creating a truly terrifying board.

Thanks for the submissions everyone! But ultimately, this challenge definitely had a clear winner. Looking forward to the next challenge!

Vuurjopi - though the card isn't exactly a win condition, the free tokens to help boost the power of each other. Provided you had a few dragons in hand this *could* be a fun deck, if a bit difficult to win with.

2nd:

Natopotato - I really like the idea of your opponent having to go through your dragons to actually win.  The only thing holding it back is still the difficulty of getting dragons out in a timely manner

1st:

TameRlane - Sacrifice your early game (suicide) for a late game dragon storm. While not the most effective thing, I could see it working in the normals for a deck that would just be plain fun to play and have a somewhat higher degree of success than the other submissions.
