Once FD/FF finishes up I'd be interested in joining this.
Role: Master Tactician
Ability: May see opposing troop deployments prior to turn rollouts and change troop deployments by subtracting one point from the offensive budget (500 troops per point subtracted). For every point subtracted this way, add one point to this turns fortification budget. If no points are modified this turn, gain +1 to offense.
(One of my frustrations in the FD/FF pod was that attacking could hurt your budget pretty badly. I like the risk/reward concept, and I feel this role would retain it while helping you advance a turn militarily without losing a turn with everything else.)
Other role ideas:
Ambassador - Your faction no longer needs to put points into diplomacy. Instead, the ambassador has 20 influence points they may allocate per turn and diplomacy is based on the ambassadors influence. Each turn, any faction which is not engaged in diplomatic relationships (I.e. has 0 influence points spent) has their influence decay by 2 per turn they have not been engaged in diplomacy. (So if you don't talk to OOS for 4 turns, you get an influence decay of

. Influence may also be changed at the GM's discretion based on significant events (Declaring war on an ally, breaking diplomatic promises, holding contested land, etc.)
Influence Standings:
-100: You are at war
-50: Faction will no longer engage in diplomacy with you
-25: Faction will declare war as soon as possible
-10: Double decay penalties
0: Faction is neutral towards you
15: Halve decay penalties
25: Faction will be open to treaties
50: Faction will be open to a defensive military alliance / sending auxillaries
100: Faction will join you in any war. (Note - Only 1 faction may reach this influence level per pod)
Misc. Penalties/Bonuses
+5: Fighting alongside allies
+10: Sending Auxillaries for aid to another faction
-5: Fighting against a factions allies. (If GI and FD are allies and you attack FD, you would suffer an influence penalty with GI.)
-15: Engaging in military action against a faction
-10: A failed sabotage attempt against another faction
-75: Declaring war on another faction
-25: Declaring war on a faction's ally
GM may assign other bonuses/penalties for non-listed specific reasons.
Note: CoV/Exiles/SoA/Klingons may not have ambassadors
Basically this would be an attempt to overhaul the diplomacy function of the pod and make it easier to track / more user friendly.
If you wanna give that one a shot I think being an ambassador could be fun and I'd be willing to test it.
