Noble protector - are you kidding me?
« on: December 10, 2014, 08:12:30 AM »
So 4-5, 1p, 2 resource - when DEPLOYED makes your folk immune to non combat DMG.
Isn't it a bit way too bloody much?

It basicly serves as better version of martyr golem for most of time and this dude basicly invincible while he sits in support - only way to deal with him without resorting to Calamity or Oblivion is to use Fight or Word of Command.
If anything for his cost he should not protect himself or only function while in combat zone.

It was stated many times that the effects spoiled on stream or wherever you saw them were not the final versions and all cards were subject to change until Order became legal. Noble Protector was updated a while ago to only work while on the battlefield. Hope this alleviates any concerns you have.

P.S. Heres an image of the card in its current state on the test server:

It's still an insanely powerful card for an already powerful faction.

IT is a really interesting card. Van verteilt Change the meta. Verore will have to be much more Careful.  And of course IT makes New things possible like unbuffed los health commanders and such. Not to forget countering stuff like c9mbustion. May be a bit cheap But it fits FD concept as the Anti-Magic faction.

Sorry for wording am on phone and it corrects everything

So basically, play a bunch of paladins to the field (since there are 2 different types of them now), lump a noble protector onto the battlefield and everything suddenly turns invincible except vs combat damage. Which is more than easily taken care of with flashbangs, burning prejudice and other stumble-like abilities.

Like FD isn't ridiculously hard to manage as it is.

Using him as commander isn't that good of idea, it will slow down deck too much in my opinion, it's still extremly good sideboard and maybe even mainboard card. We have yet to see good rushblock cards, but they probably will be in the set aswell.

I had this idea, could a Flame Dawn/Warpath Combo using this Card make a functioning breeder deck that doesn't die to damage spells before you can make your army? I haven't seen any such deck myself yet, but I heard the reason for them not working anymore is due to the current Meta being too slow, + low life characters like the beast Tokens are easy pickings for stuff like Yuanshi, Winds of War + Desolation. This could help.

Also I want a Combo of this and Chef to create an ever more bulky army that can only be killed by Death effects and Damage. (Or sacrifice I guess.) If you can get multiple out of them and don't get overwhelmed, it could become quite crazy.

This is a great card. Not really looking forward to all the power FD is getting. I am guessing we are going to see a ton of people using 1fd just for certain cards like this. Just like people used 1wp for brosaurus.

It does not work against poison, is it intended?

Poison is a status effect on the character itself. The damage is not dealt by a player, so Noble Protector won't prevent it. At least that's what people assume is the reason for this interaction.

Poison and Immolate damage are dealt to a character by itself. Noble protector only protects against damage sources your opponent controls. In this case the control of the damage source is yourself - so he does not prevent damage.
