Being "out of play" removes buffs AND additional abilities?
« on: September 03, 2014, 09:01:38 AM »
Okay, so this is either a bug or I missed some recent information...
Or it was always like that and I'm simply not perceptive enough :b

Anyway, I tested it in three situations (with puffy):

#1
Give Him a Jetpack cast on Ram.
Verore Kidnapper cast on Ram.
Temporal Rift cast on Kidnapper.
Ram returns without flying.

#2
Give Him a Jetpack cast on Infected Drone.
Temporal Rift cast on Infected Drone.
Infected Drone returns without flying.

#3
Same as #2 but Poison was used.
Infected Drone loses Poison.

Yes, the card is supposed to be reset. It has been that way since I started playing months ago.

It's supposedly meant to be like that, even if it just seems like lazy coding and not what should actually happen. =/

The thing is that buffs always got reset and it was intended but I thought that gained abilities and states like poisoned stayed.
I even recall someone mentioning this on forums, that they were surprised when using Anomaly to get rid of poison didn't work... or my memory is faulty, which could be the case.

Giving something flying *is* giving it a buff. "Buff" does not specifically pertain to stats.

It's supposedly meant to be like that, even if it just seems like lazy coding and not what should actually happen. =/

It's actually more work to make it work this way, and yes it's absolutely intended.

I'm not sure *that* is intended. I'll pass it along.

From a programming perspective, it's much easier (quicker / less resource intensive) to just kill a card and replace it with a fresh card than it is to store the card's previous statistics and return it as such when it's due to be returned, so no, it's not "more work" the way it currently is... it's quite the opposite, as it happens. o.O

I don't quite see how it's intended behaviour. It seems lazy and too strong for the cost of cards that remove from play.

I can appreciate your perspective, RatKing, I simply ask that you appreciate ours as well. :)

This has been an existing mechanic ever since remove from game has existed...which is a long time. I don't mean to dissuade your perspective whatsoever, however the purpose of this post was to question whether or not this was intended.

In fact it is intended, and has operated along this fashion for quite some time.

If there is a case to be made in regards to the balance of power on this subject, please present that discussion appropriately.

In hindsight, RatKing, the way I phrased my statements towards you do sound as if I'm telling you to just stop and I certainly don't mean to.

Your insinuation regarding this not likely being intended is contrary to the point, your perspective is just as valid as anyones, however I have given you an answer to your concerns only in effort to further the discussion towards something more constructive for all parties involved.

If the community would like to discuss the balance of power or perhaps intended mechanics on this subject, let's present it as such. :)

How is out of play supposed to interact with Humble? From my experience, Humble removes the text of a character, and if I Controlled Temporary Anomaly to remove and bring it back, the character still has no text. Is this a bug or intended?

Along with one of the above statements regarding sinister corruption, that also sounds like an inconsistency.

I can't verify anything until I've heard back from the team however.

Just to add on to the inconsistencies: an opponent used a Controlled Temporal Anomaly once on my Meditating Monk while he was in the Support Zone, and he retained his buffed Power, which was buffed to 22.

Teremus, I thought that in another post you stated that Kidnapper WAS supposed to return creatures to play in the exact state that they left. I thought that was in keeping with its theme, it kidnaps the character and when it dies the character is released. Can you clarify this? Is kidnapper supposed to return characters in the same state as when they left?

To further along this, I used a balance on an opponents 22/12 Meditating monk and it buffed him to 30 instead of lowering him to 12 while he was in the support zone.
