zone terminology and card function...
« on: July 20, 2014, 12:41:23 AM »
So, we've got Combat (sub attack/defense), support, and command, which would seem to make up the "battlefield" zone, as well as in hand, and discard/graveyard. What I am wondering is why some cards include command in battlefield, but others do not? Specifically, I've had "while on battlefield" abilities that sometimes do and sometimes do not work for characters in command, and seen my command pod obliterated with everything else when a card effect kills all characters on battlefield.

It is inconsistant, card-by-card, and difficult to predict.

Can anyone lend some help and understanding here? Is there something I am missing?

If a card is in Assault or Defence, it's in the combat zone.
If a card is in a combat zone or Support, it's on the battlefield.
If a card is on the battlefield or in Command, it's in play.
Cards in other zones (deck, hand, graveyard, removed from game) aren't considered to be either of the above.
Any cards that operate differently from this either don't work as intended or are incorrectly written - submit a bug report.
