Single Card Discussion: Devil of Despair
« on: August 03, 2013, 04:46:33 PM »
Move aside Flame Dawn Paladin, I have a new favourite card!

Its kind of like a passing of the torch, but if you look closely, its less of a passing and more of a being knocked down, your armor ripped apart, followed by your rib cage, and then having a small, ferocious imp tearing your innards out in search of the torch.

First time I saw this card. I read Unstoppable instead of Untouchable and that was a whole other topic.
Really want to test out Unstoppable with this card with MG.

If only the clients will cooperate.

Now im confused, isnt untouchable the same as "cannot be killed from non dmg bla bla" ? :) I mean when its untouchable it is untagetable as well right?

If something is untouchable, it is untargetable, but can still be killed via mass death, Winds of war, etc etc.

They need to keyword "Cannot be killed by non-damage sources" to resolve.

I still love the card art on the Paladin.  This card is cool and seems overpowered at first glance.  He might be really good against DoD who focuses on defending alot.

I think the fact that it is prevented from blocking makes it quite balanced.  I would hate to see this thing be able to switch back and forth from Atk to Def just absorbing all the characters it can.

When I first saw that card, I wanted to walk up to WWKnight and just be like "umad bro?" xD looks so angry in that card, "I may be dying, but I swear I will kill you!"

You can't actually tell at a quick glance, but if look real close you can see its actually photoshopped. The shoulders don't actually line up properly.  Also, the pixels are wrong...

I love finding out about insanely potent-yet-balanced cards like this.  It's Radariah on crack for 1 purity.  Let's see, he's got some level of synergy with Paladin (live through mass death forever!), any stat-boosting cards to help him kill stuff (Bromich, Daode, Martyr), and you could build a deck around him by going either 2x Verore + 1x Exiles (control focus, mass death synergy, just kill everything that gets in his way) with him as a commander +3x main (and since it's a control deck, Varyus would fit in naturally and helps you find more copies), and this guy could be your single win-condition, with some Martyr Golems to keep him alive, and being Verore you've got lots of kill spells to keep stuff out of his way.  You could go also with any combination of either DoD, Verore or FD and buff his defense with Daodes while using Verore and/or FD to control the field and rely on a relatively small number of powerful threats (This guy, Paladin, Aerial Commando, and so forth) to out-tempo your opponent and you'd have the Rallying General to keep him alive.  I love to see a card with 3+ abilities. :D
