Alright, went back and read the damn thing. Transparency is always a huge issue with games. Devs have to know when to give the player's knowledge of what's going on, and what to hold back on. It's a slippery slope if they were to say they'll tell us everything and all that.

Listening to feedback is also a big deal. Which is why asking for suggestions from the whole community in the first place is dangerous. Hence why there used to be the council. People get butthurt if their opinions aren't listened to, which leads to more saltiness and player dissatisfaction.

All in all, I think Electro has done very well with conveying his message in this post, and I think it's definitely worth listening to and thinking about.

tl;dr, well organized paragraphs though. Also, use of word treatise

I can't speak as to the actual dividing up of prizes, but from previous experience the best way to go is when someone wants to donate to you you simply take a screenshot of the trade screen and have them say something like "I'm donating this stuff for future Drew tourneys".

As far as prizes go. A lot of the "higher level" players don't actually need anything that isn't premium. Most of them already have all of the competitive cards and just do tourneys for the fun. This changes if there's some kind of massive prize pool. It used to happen a lot when there were maybe 1 or 2 tourneys a month. So I can't speak for what I think a prize pool should be as far as like 6 tourneys a week. Good luck to you drew, and I hope other people have better insight into the dividing up part of things.

Great post Drew. I agree completely. I am cautiously optimistic about the future of the game. Of course I hope everything turns out well and IW becomes a great success. Because, as you stated, it is a great concept. We all love the game because there's nothing else like it out there. Lightmare should know that we really do WANT to have faith in them, and we do WANT them to succeed, but we do also need the evidence.

Well we did technically have design input in the sense that we could give opinions on what we thought was good and what wasn't, but they weren't required to take our opinions. We had no official sway in design, we could just share our thoughts with the lead designers and see if they liked them. Sometimes they did, other times they didn't, both sides had great ideas. At least during oppression, which is where we had the most influence.

But we never had any official power there.
But we got to see cards before they came out. So we were cool  8)

Perhaps "poorly" is an exaggeration, but there were certainly times when the council went sour. One instance in particular comes to mind, but it serves no real purpose to bring that back up.
The point is, the council did good work and important work for the game. I wouldn't compare it to a focus group so much as I would compare it to a playtesting team--which is something any game needs. I've got a lot of respect for what the Council did and would wholeheartedly support bringing it back, or something like it back.
I may have joined late, and not ever worked together on a set with the council. I did work with them enough to realize though, that they did their best to present a group of people with varied experience and equivalence within the game so that they made themselves a varied group. One with enough varied opinions to try and create opinions within every potential level of player within the game. Yes there was insight as far as what actually worked as a card and all that, but it was seeing how a card worked with everyone. Not just one group of the playerbase. I really hope the game is coming back. I love it to death no doubt. And whether the council survives or not is irrelevant. You always do need a good source for player feedback. Companies always choose to do that in different ways and it is fine. I just want the damn game to succeed because I love the game and the players in it.

So I'm gonna start a little poll today. I wanna know what everyone hopes to get out of  playing Infinity Wars. Whether you wanna be the champion or just make some fun decks and chill out. I'll let you guys vote twice since I'm sure a lot of people have more than one reason for playing.

I personally enjoy talking to the community greatly, and I also love playing ranked and trying to be the best player I can be.

I think the big difference is that strong players will consciously decide when they need to switch up a game plan and start playing more "randomly" whereas new players just do it because they don't know any better :P
