Imagine a person who does not want to play a game of chess with you. Now they sit there for 5 minutes staring at you while waiting for the clock to run out. You get some ip. Worth? wasting five minutes of your life was worth making someone and yourself sit and do nothing because you have to prevent him from leaving something he doesn't want to do?
If this was like league and was team based and had an significant expected gametime required to play one single match, then it would make some sense to have penalties to leavers. As it stands, it does not.
Once again Chess does not indirectly punish a player when his opponent concedes, whereas Infinity Wars does.
In League, even queue dodging is punished by an increasing time out. For those that don't know queue dodging is leaving a game that is still in the champion select stages, the game will abort and a new game is immediately formed with a replacement player, which means there's no time wasted with AFKs and in-game trolling. But the player who dodged is still slapped with a time out, starting at 5 minutes and then 15 then 30, etc. The idea is the the player has a legitimate reason to need to leave a game then he's fine and the penalty is negligible, but should he be going and leaving games habitually, the system makes it less and less rewarding for that player to cherry pick his matches.
We could implement a similar system in Infinity Wars. The first sub 5 minute concede you do in a given hour nets you a warning, then a 2 minute time out the next time, then 5 minutes, etc. An hour of games with no sub 5 minute concedes will reset the timer. This will allow people to concede the occasional match up for legitimate reasons without enabling them to trawl for games and only play those where the odds are in their favor.
Heart, if you're going to tell me we need to allow certain people the freedom to serial concede games looking for winnable match ups other wise it's no fun for them, then I will state this this bluntly: I don't care for those people. I think they are entitled and spoiled brats and I'd rather see them leave the game because those are the people who do not grow as players or care about the community as a whole. If they need to easy or fast wins to have fun they can go play bots. Instead, the guys who build robust decks who are willing to take on anyone and become better players because of it are the ones being forced out of the game.
