News and Developer Talk / Re: The lights are on but is anyone home?

My guess:

The relaunch failed to attract the required influx of new players. So whilst the devs continue to toil, the suits are having full and frank discussions as to whether they should invest more and try again or cut their losses and pull the plug.

Graveyard control is an interesting mechanic and IMO the game would be poorer without it.

In the short term, removing *any* faction would be a mistake. When trying to relaunch a TCG and attract new players the more cards and variety the better. Yes there are bugs but I think it would be better to work on fixing them rather than remove the faction.

Once the new cards go live for Constructed, will there be a chance of them dropping from ordinary penta packs? Or will that only happen once the whole set has been released? I couldn't work this out from the weekly post.

Help Board / Re: Returning player trying to understand rotation

Some thoughts that might or might not be facts:

I suspect that rotation will still happen some day but it's now a fairly long way off and might not be Sleepers. Overseers were supposed to defeat the Sleepers in game lore, which I believe is one reason the latter were chosen as the first to go. Personally I think that Sleepers are one of the most interesting factions and it would be a mistake to rotate them out simply because of lore; gameplay should trump lore.

My guess is that any rotation has been put on hold for commercial reasons. Having lots of cards and factions is a big selling point for a TCG, so it would be a strange move to reduce their number during/soon after relaunch.

Love it!

Now see, these, THESE, if THESE had been some of the cards announced then most of us wouldn't be nearly as upset lol.

Regicide, No More Heros, those are the kinds of interesting cards I like to see. Collar is cool tech tbh. Unity is broken as puffy, but Marina is cool depending on cost/stats.

It must be really demoralising for the Yodomare peeps to see us rip their first attempt at new cards to shreds, I hope they realise it's only because we care.

I try to keep my comments constructive and remember that without the new team we probably wouldn't have a game at all by now. So:

Marina: Like it. The wording suggests that it applies to enemy Characters as well which makes it a double edged sword.

Unity: Assuming that 'any' applies to all of your characters that die, not just the first, then it could be a very good way of mitigating Mass Death. *If* you time it right

No More Heros: Like it. I assume it means "in play". (Aside: I mistyped it as 'No More Eros' which would be a very different game...)

Regicide & Dragon Collar: Look good, DC might be an effective response to those pesky Avatars

General: Several of the cards revealed so far seem to need some tightening of the wording. With a game as complex as IW it's essential to get that right or you'll drown in bug reports.

As Teremus will undoubtedly say, we need to look at these in the context of the new meta. But here are my thoughts based on the current game:

I like Super Infectious Zombie and The Impervious. Glad to see Sleepers getting some love, but SIZ should possibly be 'whilst deployed' as omucupunga points out.

Gabrielle is interesting but that wording needs clarification. Is it your opponent's cards cost 1 more to play or is it that their cards' abilities cost 1 more to use?

Taiga seems ok but I'd rather it said 'all other characters except Taiga'. If that isn't what it means she could get seriously out of hand.

Shockwave Giant is ridiculously OP, especially for an 8 cost. Maybe ok if it damaged characters on the battlefield rather than in play.

Tullio: Sounds good, but as others have pointed out there are just way to many combos to make him silly. Ridiculously cheap at 4. Maybe make him triple purity to remove some of the combo options.

Ixxi and Death Blast have already been ripped to shreds elsewhere...

Overall these cards seem to be significantly raising the power level of the game. I wonder if that's an intentional design goal or a side effect of getting carried away with cool ideas.

Drew's got stuff to deal with:

Bump to alert - due to a sudden RL emergency, I cannot guarantee my ability to host this week's events. Please hold patience for a few days.

Hope things work out ok Drew.

Yeah that is actually what I am expecting.
And what if they are the most toxic? Guess we'll have to find out (I hope early enough).
What I'm hoping is that these two cards caused 'vigorous debate' within the team so they decided to float them here to see the reaction.

If you're looking for fairly easy cards to obtain then I'd suggest Lilariah, Lucca, Heaven's Assistance, Guns of Goliath, Banish and Consecration.

I swear if they make these cards available in LP only ... I will raise hell.

Would the new cards be a money only DLC?
Either of those would cause many players, myself included, to rage quit. I don't see Yodomare having done all this work only to commit commercial suicide.

Why should it be suicide?
You want Plat - pay USD, you want the cards - wait for day 1 after Preorder.

You can play the IP cards at the same time as the LP cards. No downside, beside beeing not Plat. And the big majority of the game, doesnt even care about cosmetic stuff. So whats the deal in rage quitting?

This scenario is only guessing, what might be the most possible way for increasing USD income for new cards.

No worries if it's for LP/cash only for plat versions. I was - perhaps wrongly - reading this as suggesting LP/cash might be the only way to get the cards at all, plat or normal.

What is needed... clearification!

Whoever did the artwork for Ixxi did a perfect job. As soon as I saw it I wanted to smash its face in - and that was before reading what it does!

I'm afraid I agree with the negativity so far. I don't play Exiles because I don't like RNG - the last thing I want is it being added to my deck. Be very careful with randomness - I'm sure you've seen the reaction to Pandora Artifacts in Faeria, they might have killed that game.

Suggestion: to keep him annoying but have the RNG annoyance restricted to the deck he's in, how about making him overpowered for his cost but he randomly moves between the owner's zones at the start of the turn.

Death Blast is a good idea but way too powerful. Rather than a complex damage ramp I think I'd simply say it does 1 damage for each card in the graveyard. That way it would still be powerful but more situational; it would be more of an end game card and require more thought (=skill) in timing.

But despite all that: New cards! Yay!!!  :D
