This is amazing - great work Lightmare.  Very speedy response to the community.  :D

These types of issues have been brewing for awhile and they absolutely need to be addressed and I think Teremus has done a tremendous job handling this situation.  The first thing that has to stop is all this talk coming from QA members about what is going on internally.  Whether they are upset or not keep it to themselves.  They should also take responsibility for part of this new found LM bashing and be disciplined appropriately.  Nova is a prime example.  I enjoy watching his stream for the most part but he can not use his stream as a platform to leak information or talk about the inner workings of QA.  I'm sure he is not the only one but he is the most public figure.

I couldn't agree with this more.  QA should keep tight lips about previous versions of cards or how they changed cards or "hinting" at non-public information, and so forth.

Also, personally, as someone who has been playing this game for over a year now (14 months now) and has collected playsets of every single card, I still support Lightmare 100%.  Things take time.  I ask the fellow members of the community to please keep it professional.

General Game Discussion / Re: Can we talk about Mill decks?
« on: August 15, 2014, 06:46:15 AM »
I have to agree that this mill isn't the issue, it's just a control deck that can stall indefinitely. Which is bad, but targeting the milling aspect won't fix anything.

IMO, they really need to work on the mid and late game characters in terms of combat effectiveness. At it's most basic, I think the stat curve is way too low, where you're often seeing 2-3 cost characters being able to trade up, or stuff like mass AOE damage being an effective option against big characters. The lack of any real soft control faction is something that needs to be fixed as well, IMO.

I agree 100% that the stat curve does not function very well in terms of the overall effectiveness of the some of the later/more expensive characters.  Instead of being "This costs a lot, therefore it is big" we should see more characters that can justify their cost based on powerful abilities or levels of protection (untouchable, cannot be killed by non-damage sources, and so forth) or by granting card advantage so that the lategame cards will serve as threats more frightening than "That is big.  Good thing I have a Death Ray."

3x Graverob in every deck, and Mill isn't nearly as scary ;)  and Purify if you're in FD.  Oh, and run a big deck!  50+ cards and they'll have one heck of a time trying to mill you out!  And run recycle/Gather thoughts yourself.

It seems like every few months there is a new "big bad control deck" that everyone is unhappy with.  Is this indicative of a flaw in design - is it the morale mechanic itself?  Or could it be something else, like perhaps we need bigger, more powerful finishers that even control decks would struggle to deal with?  I'm not sure, but I think if IW had more combos (combos where if you were left without pressure aka as mill does, then you would be able to assemble something to put you in a very powerful position).  WWK has touched on this - how IW seems to lack combo play.

IW does have some neat combos (2-card combos, and also decksized combos like Siphoner decks).

It only happens on the release day, when you have 50+ packs to open.  Takes a while.

Agreed, when I open packs, I don't even scroll through the cards.  I just open, exit, open and exit.  Takes too long to scroll through them all.

If TCG's live and die by the third party market, then why Hearthstone (no trading, thus no buying/selling) so popular?

I think that crafting and the auction house will solve this problem.  When you can get rid of your unwanted cards for a fair amount of IP to get the legend you want, it will even out nicely.

This is extremely good, I'm glad you guys took an episode to address the patch since it has been somewhat controversial, although a very good patch overall.

Didn't work for me, still don't see the alt art card in my collection. :/

I strongly believe in terms of features, forging should be pushed higher on the list.  It doesn't matter at all to me personally, but after trying Hearthstone, forging makes it a lot easier to be a new player and just think grind up some cards to make your deck better (because it feels bad when you know your deck is suboptimal).  I do think forged cards should be soulbound so that people can't break the economy, do botting or whatever.

Metagames develop and change.  This patch literally just went live, give it time and see how the meta adapts to the changes, and I'm sure a new aggro-control deck can arise.
