General Game Discussion / Re: An Order Review - Master Thread
« on: April 01, 2015, 08:58:03 PM »
While I understand the general consensus seems to be that the Order set seems to be lacking, it is technically part of a three set block with two sets still yet to be filled out. This may be wishful thinking, but I feel as though the cards that seem sub-par are because they haven't seen their full potential that will come with the rest of the block. Then again, I could just be playing angel's advocate (moreso because I'm arguing in favor of the set being fine when the majority feel the opposite). Still, I feel it's worth mentioning in case the thought hadn't crossed everyone's mind.

Pat. He did all my favorite Warpath cards, and my favorite Exile cards.

Who says you can't have duplicates? I'd totally pick Call the Warpath myself. XD

If we can't have duplicates, however, I'd have to go with Hidden by Clouds. Sure one can be dealt with by removal, but if you have three, you can basically have the first one pull out a second, and then the second pulls out the third. Now you need 3 answers in order to stop the rush of beasts. >:D (or one answer to rule them all. I'm looking at you, Calamity and Oblivion. :P )

I'd like for the game to take off and rival Hearthstone, and for the lore to be released beyond the little snippets we've managed to discover so far. Perhaps even getting to know the personalities of the characters more.

General Game Discussion / Re: QotD: Favorite Factions to Mix
« on: March 24, 2015, 08:40:24 PM »
I've mixed Warpath with everything. Can't say it's all worked out, but What's come the closest has been WP and Sleepers, oddly enough. Still, I prefer to get a good working version of Warpath and DoD or Warpath and Exiles. Those three are my favorite factions with Warpath (obviously) being at the top.

Genesis Industries / Re: Orion's Grave vs Untapped Wilderness.

I was going to mention exactly what Abyss said. Being a location means that it's the only card you're likely to play (unless for some reason you decide to have a second location for a surprise factor in certain situations). As an artifact, it has no restrictions, and you can still have a location in play as well.

Also, Warpath doesn't have many artifacts, and the ones it does have are too restrictive or not useful enough to warrant running them. Granted, they are the best faction for artifact hate, so I guess it's understandable. Heck, I could even see running the Ancient Aether and then using Wreckful Walrus to destroy it so you can play abilities without issue while also buffing your Walrus. Shame that hasn't been incorperated into a deck much, but then midgame decks seem to be struggling a lot recently. :/

General Game Discussion / Re: QotD: What Got You into Infinity Wars?
« on: March 22, 2015, 09:01:44 PM »
For me, I was browsing Greenlight looking for games that seemed interesting. I eventually noticed it on Steam Greenlight and voted 'Yes' for it because it looked interesting. Interesting enough, in fact, that I even visited the Kickstarter page, though I didn't have money at the time, and by the time I did, I kinda forgot about the game and missed the Kickstarter. I also signed up for beta participation, of which I later got an acceptance e-mail. I can't recall exactly what happened after that point because I didn't actually get into the game at that time, and it wasn't until later when I thought about the game again that I looked into it, and found that Rise was on pre-order. Back then, there was a daily cap on IP, which thankfully was removed because I'd basically play till I hit the cap, and then logged off.

Of course, now, I hardly play, but that's a different story. Then again, it just might be my normal burnout and desire to play something new and I do feel I will come back to Infinity Wars eventually. If I didn't, I'd be working to sell my cards. :P

General Game Discussion / Re: Infect chain reaction bug or intended?
« on: March 22, 2015, 08:53:52 PM »
I'm going to have to side with, it's not intentional, I.E. a bug. While the circumstances for this being possible are quite limited (and probably why it hadn't been found before now), it just seems wrong for it to work like that in a proper game mechanics setting.

They had started a beta on the android phone a while back, but, due to various things I'm not sure I'm qualified to get in to, they had to put it on hold. Sorry. They do plan to release it on mobile systems eventually, but I couldn't begin to tell you when that's likely to happen.

Deck Building / Re: Mathcraft of Infinity Wars

Personally, I prefer drawing to shuffling, considering that shuffling means you're not thinning the deck. The only times I shuffle is when I only have 3 resources, and I have a card I can't use right now and isn't likely to be useful in the near future. The fact they were in the bottom 5 of your deck was probably just bad luck.

From the sound of it, Shrine has skyrocketed to near the top. This is merely from what I've read on the forums, however. :/

I'd actually vote for Wealthy Noble, personally.

I've been hanging around for a while too, though I can't say I put as much money down as WWKnight, nor did I get involved in the community as early as he did. I got in before Rise was released and I visit these forums on a daily basis. I converse on here, providing input, advice, help, and whatever else I can, but I'm almost never actually playing the game anymore. Maybe it's because I've gotten a good deal of the cards I wanted for my favorite faction, or maybe it's the fact I'm not super competitive. Sure I like to compete, but I suspect I'm more of a casual, even though I can get hardcore about certain games. This is/was one of them, but even I am starting to get a bit disheartened. Teremus is doing a wonderful job, and I will defend him if anyone tries to say otherwise. I also am trying to have faith in Lightmare as a whole. It just seems that for every big fix (one step forwards), we end up with old cards that had been fixed before break again (one step back), along with new cards also becoming broken (second step back). The hotfixes do help get back in the lead, but sometimes things break with them as well so it's not a steady process. :/

I've looked into coding, and I even interned at a place where I was asked to scrounge through line after line of code to fix bugs (which they called discrepancies). I managed to find a few, but it took a lot of effort, particularly since I was jumping into an already created program that I didn't help create in any way. I do understand how difficult it can be to look through code and find out where to put the fix. It just would be nice to have a patch that doesn't break things when it tries to fix other things. I also know bringing in more coders won't help the issue immediately as they'll have to learn how the code works to even start to fix stuff, and they might even break a few more things along the way.

I guess I do still hold hope that the reason fixes seem to have slowed down may be due to splitting the team between fixing the current client, and working on the updated client mentioned and titled IW 2015. From what I've been witnessing, the original way the game was coded seems too inconsistent and difficult to fix and it seems, to me, the best fix is to redo the entire code. I'm sure the coders have learned from the problems they've encountered and will apply that to the new client making it significantly more stable. Perhaps that will be when I come back and really try the game out again. For now, I'm just going to lurk on the forums, I guess.

Suggestions / Re: Calamity and Aleta

I know Coyle's Lore is around somewhere, but I can't be bothered to look for it again. Coyle seems to be more of a time traveller, I think. I'm also somewhat inclined to think he might be from the Omni Universe (much like the characters on the Omni cards) that jumped into the Infinity Wars Universe post Calamity, but that's just speculation on my part. What I do know is that the first Coyle somehow managed to create, or find, a rift that he jumped through to get to Talich (Or possibly the Untamed World), then something happened where his earlier version managed to jump through as well (hence Alpha One), found Zomborg (at least according to flavor text), went back to the other Coyle that gained power from the various factions and absorbed them, then went back and somehow became Zomborg (least Coyle himself said that Alpha became Zomborg, and eventually Hellbringer before He and the other coyle fought in battle to eventually become Divine Demonic).

Honestly, the lore behind him is a bit convoluted and difficult to make sense of at the moment. Maybe Coyle will release his lore in some sort of special package at some point, likely when Coyle reaches his 'final form' assuming that's when we'll see the last of Coyle.

Sleepers of Avarrach / Re: how do token work for graveyard mechanics?
« on: March 16, 2015, 02:57:11 AM »
While I don't know for certain, I suspect, with the Reincarnation Engine, it's intentional, as otherwise you'd have an endless mass of zombies/characters. Necropolis might be the same way, though I thought it only worked for opponent's killed characters, so those shouldn't end up needing to be removed if that's the case. Other than that, and Xi tokens, the rest all DO go into the graveyard.
