Title: Pod 2--Warpath--In Character
Post by: Benionin on October 19, 2016, 01:32:09 AM
So, you think you can run a faction, eh?

This is the thread for in-character interactions for the second pod of my forum RPG, who are playing as the Warpath. Try to limit the discussion to your budget proposals or other important in-character interactions (for instance, if someone calls for a vote). Otherwise, please direct all comments to the out of character thread (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=66679.0) so this one stays as clean as possible. To learn more about this game, check out the Rules Thread (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=66650.0).

Our players are Prozac, LargeNuggets, Sonicx110x4, and Number11. If you'd like to join in, let me know.

Aleta hasn't been the same since the arrival of the Overseers. Something about her eyes seems harder, the way she furrows her brow in anger at their mention or sight. You all understand.

We were betrayed.

"Caretaker," Sonic begins, using an honorific she has discarded since the betrayal. "We have been hurt by the deathless and the angels. With the loss of Hehkeem, I call upon the Warpath to unite against this new threat."

She nods and swallows. "The Warpath will follow your lead, packleaders," she says, her voice tense. "We have been reduced to near nothingness, our world razed time and again, squabbled over by greedy humans and careless angels. Now we shall reclaim what is ours. We no longer control the rifts, nor the crater. It does not matter. Life finds a way. We will rebuild and regroup, stronger than before."

You howl in agreement, beating your chests and stomping your feet.

"We have no strong places to retreat to, and our packs are scattered. Broodlord, what packs remain?"

"5 mighty packs still walk the wilds," he replies. "The first, 200 Vulpines, the last of their kind. The second, 50 of Skraar's proud lineage. The third, 300 Hulkers. The fourth, 250 of various breeds. The fifth, 350 various smaller beasts. They're spread throughout the continent, with the fifth roaming particularly far to the south. Compared to the angels our beasts are strong but few, and isolated."

"We have no allies," the Prophet intones, Karani's successor. "And war with the Overseers will be costly."

"They betrayed us," Aleta growls, and you roar in agreement. "They will not go unpunished. We must reclaim our land, defeat the Overseers, and ensure the continued survival of this beautiful world. The Warpath will survive."

"There is no time to waste," the Swift Hunter intones. "Let us be prepared to meet again by the 22nd with our budgets, packleaders."

"Packleaders, we are in a war with the overseers. Because of that, we need an army, a strong army that can reach them. We may be atacked so we should spend some budget on fortification, just in case of an atack. We dont have any allies so spending budget on diplomatics seems uneeded. I dont think we need to atack yet, instead we could spend points on exploration. Bellow is my budget proposal. "

Greeting fellow ancients,

I am honored to be here today to discuss our current predicament with the winged creatures who call themselves the Overseers. As I'm sure you are all aware, these ruthless creatures have spread chaos and destruction upon our sacred land. The forest is our home and we must protect it at all costs, even if that means temporarily setting aside old rivalries for the sake of peace. I have seen the future, and I know what will happen if we fail to overcome this threat. Our families will be torn apart and we shall be bound and forced to work under whip and chain. These winged beasts think we are savages below their level, but we know this is not true. We have a way of life older than the trees in these forests and traditions to uphold. I call for a mass unification of all tribes in this world immediately. I understand this is no easy task for many of our brethren have a deep seeded hate and rivalry for each other stretching back for generations. But I have seen the future, and I know there is a way. We must travel far to the north and seek out The Mountain. Only he who is above the clouds can unite us all under his almighty strength. His ancient wisdom will speak to even the most ruthless clan leaders, and only then will we unite to crush those disgusting angels.

Friends, Colleagues for too long have we suffered injustices to our land and people. When the humans began to settle on our land we allowed them because land is to be shared. When the Genesis Industries settled and began making their machines that raped the land we let them, because they were stuck in their ways and we hoped to teach them in time.
When the Angels came and demanded a cooperative truce we agreed for the good of both our people and when they betrayed us we were left desecrated and nearly destroyed.

No more.

No more shall we endure such indignation such as that which has come before, we are the proud, we are the strong, WE ARE THE WARPATH.

I do not speak these words lightly, we have been severely injured and we are on our last leg as it stands, I am not so short sighted as to propose we simply lash out and die in one glorious act of resistance. No, what I suggest instead is that we cower like the meek, cower like the weak all the while sharpening our claws and building back our ranks, we will be completely nonthreatening up until the point we slit their traitorous cowardly throats and rip out their entrails.

To that effect I have proposed a budget for what little resources we have, this is a war gentleman and a war is a race, not a sprint, I understand not everyone may agree with this allocation of resources but I feel it will give us the best path to victory in the future.

We shall have our revenge but first we must rebuild.

TURN 2

Aleta's expression has been hard ever since the betrayal, but now she let a smile slip, seeing you assembled. "Greetings, friends," she said. "I bring news of the war. Our explorers have, following the Prophet's guidance, discovered a location to the north, the Mountain you spoke of. Already the packs move towards its protective heights. However, the Swift Hunter's scouts also bring word of the Rift to the poisonous land known as Reish."

The Swift Hunter nodded. "Our scouts did not get close enough to tell, but the fortifications around that rift seemed small and easily overrun if we so chose. Solace's Gate, however, located in the epicenter of the Calamity, is much more heavily fortified. Closing the doors that Karani opened with her death will seal the Overseers away forever, but it will be very difficult."

Aleta nodded. "But the betrayers must be brought to justice." You howled in approval. "Our scouts have reached the Flame Dawn and even now are speaking with them, insisting that we mean them no harm. Although they remain unconvinced, those warlike people have not yet declared war upon us. Meanwhile, in spite of several attempts by the Overseers to sabotage our operations, they were stopped at every turn and no spies were able to successfully carry out any mission."

The Broodlord growled. "Caretaker, I bring news of the packs. The first pack, the Vulpines, located north of the Calamity's epicenter, is now working its way across the isthmus towards the center of the continent and the Mountain the Prophet spoke of. They are still 200 foxes strong. The second pack, Skraar's proud lineage, located between the central and southern portions of the continent, is now working its way north, numbering 55. The third pack, the Hulkers, was located near the mountain in the north of the central region of the continent and is even now there. They now number 300. Our fifth pack, roaming the far south of the southern portion of the continent, has travelled hard and reached the isthmus between the southern and the central regions. It still numbers 350.

"Of the fourth pack I bring grave tidings. Its were the scouts that explored the rift to the dark world and Solace's gate, and it is even now located in the northeast of the eastern part of the continent, near the rift--in the angels' territory. The Overseers attacked the group and 100 beasts were lost, though they took 200 of the angels with them.

"A sixth pack has arisen in the isthmus bridging the central and eastern regions of the continent, beasts we call One of Many. 200 of them there are, and our researchers have helped them to toughen their hides for added protection when defending against attack."

Aleta smiled. "Thank you, Broodlord. Packleaders, we leave the further running of the Warpath within your capable hands. Never forget the fallen, brothers and sisters."

You howled in approval before departing, determining to be prepared to meet again by the 29th.

Fellow beasts. Being the only ones living in the untamed world, our enemies need to approach us from the rifts. Therefore I believe the best use of our resources for security and fortification would be around the rifts. And we sould place extra high security and fortification at the epicenter where Solace's Gate is. We will stop the Overseers no matter what.

I would like to refrain from sending more beasts scouting to the angels' territory for the time being in order to avoid casualties. We could look for breeding grounds to help grow our numbers. We should also take a better look at the rift to Reish and get a better look at who is guarding it. If it is some other group than the slavers, then we may be able to negotiate peace.

Friends, Colleagues, we have turned back the Overseers at their nefarious spying and Flame Dawn seems thankfully otherwise occupied with other mindless wars to wage, Now is the time to build our strength even further.
The one of manys are a valuable resource, they breed quickly and are fairly resilient, we can use them as our initial assault force to bring down the Overseers when it is time. Towards that goal we should focus on growing as quickly as possible while still focusing on stopping the Overseers from learning of our actions.

Below is my budget, I hope you will all agree the best way to win this war is with patience, first we grow, then we attack.

Welcome friends,

Thank you for joining me here today to discuss our budget. I do apologize for my tardiness to our meeting today, my party was caught up in a small skirmish with a band of overseer scouts on my way here, but fortunately we outnumbered them and crushed them with few casualties. In this dark time we must take advantage of what few resources we have, and band together to crush the threat from the overseers. I call for a massive increase in recruitment measures and focus on amassing enough force all together to launch an assault on the gate to solace within the near future. I'm glad to hear the rest of you wise pack leaders have come to a similar conclusion, and I am confident this is our best path towards victory. None shall oppose the Warpath!

TURN 3

Aleta looked around. "Vengeance," she growled. "We will avenge the fallen."

You howled into the sky. The news had just arrived from the scouts. The fourth pack, which had so bravely ventured towards the rift to the dark world of Reish, had been pursued west and brutally hunted down by the Overseers. The pack had been all but wiped out, with the last few survivors spreading the word of the battle. 150 beasts lost, fighting desperately and taking over 100 angels with them, although the angelic casualties were unconfirmed. Their sacrifice was not in vain, however, as they uncovered important information about the Rift before they were forced to flee and hunted down. The rift to Reish was poorly fortified, defended by 500 monks of Jade and 500 Overseers, led by the venerable Gao Han.

"I remember the Jade Ones," the Prophet intoned. "They most assuredly can be reasoned with, even if the traitors cannot. Even now, with their allies the angels hunting us down, the warriors of Jade are at peace with us, even friendly. Perhaps this can be used to our advantage." He paused. "However, I also bring ill tidings. The Flame Dawn Empire, no longer content merely to fight against its human brethren in the world of Talich, has declared war upon us. Soon their forces will begin pouring through the rift to invade."

The Caller of the Warpath nodded. "We must prepare. To that end we have begun to fortify the Mountain and the isthmus between the central and southern regions. Both have now received moderate defensive fortifications granting our forces stationed there an advantage in battle. Broodlord, how are the other packs?"

"The First pack, the Vulpines, has reached the isthmus between the central and eastern regions, still 200 strong. It was they who brought word of the Overseers' attacks. The Second pack has joined the Third pack at the Mountain. They number 60 of Skraar's mighty lineage and 350 of the Hulkers. The Fifth pack has hunkered down at the central-south isthmus, where as the Caller has said they have fortified the land. They number 350. The Sixth pack, the Many as One, has grown to be 400 strong and has moved closer to the Mountain. It is expected to arrive next turn at the current rate if it is not directed elsewhere. Our researchers have also found a way to enhance the swiftness of these beasts, allowing them to traverse the world more quickly in the future."

Seeing that the Broodlord had finished, the Swift Hunter spoke up. "The treacherous Overseers tried to sabotage our forces, but their spies were stopped by our agents. If we can take control of the regions near the rifts, we can set up cordons to limit the movement of our enemies--especially if we are to seize ground near the Epicenter of the Calamity."

Aleta nodded. "I will compile a map of this world for your future use tomorrow. Please return with your budgets for the next council meeting by the 5th."

Sorry about rolling out the turn so late today, things came up earlier. I'll make a clean copy of my annotated map for you guys tomorrow and upload a picture of it so you can see where the packs are/were. If I forgot to include anything in the write-up, let me know in the Out of Character thread and I'll fix it.

Friends, Colleagues, I know it is tempting to try to make peace with the DoD, they were allies once, but they have alligned themselves with the angels, they have not attacked us personally no, but they are guilty by assosciation!
No treaty can be found with them, none but the Warpath can be trusted anymore.

My budget you can find below, our time of growing is almost at a close, we shall be ready to strike at the overseers soon.

Friends, I also agree that we must focus on strengthening our own forces. We must take every measure possible to ensure we are able to recruit as many of our brethren as possible so we can overcome the overseers with our sheer power. We must also not lose sight of our side goal of searching out the one who is Hidden by Clouds, for he may be our key to victory. I propose we further increase our recruitment efforts, but also push forward in exploration and remain friendly with the Descendants. I don't trust them either, but we should at least remain at peace with them as well. We also must fortify our defenses to prepare for an assault from the Flame Dawn.

TURN 4

It was a quiet time for the Warpath, a time of preparation. But you could feel the tension in the air, the flames about to ignite, the storm about to break. Soon, it said. Soon.

"Unfortunately," the Prophet noted, "our relationship with the Warriors of Jade has begun to deteriorate. While they have not declared war on us yet, their position as a neutral power in this conflict may soon change."

"Hmmph," the Broodlord snorted. "We cannot trust them."

"Maybe so," the Swift Hunter replied. "My scouts have informed me that one of the Hidden by Clouds still walks the earth--perhaps research can be made into its recruitment?"

"A sound plan," Aleta nodded. "Broodlord, what is the status of the packs?"

"The Overseers attacked the Vulpine Pack at the isthmus between the central and eastern regions and were rebuffed. 200 angels were slain with only 50 Vulpines lost, and due to a surge in numbers that pack is now 250 strong.
"Skraar's proud lineage, located here at the Mountain, currently numbers 70 beasts.
"The Hulkers who provide the bulk of the defense of the Mountain have also expanded their numbers and are 400 strong.
"The pack guarding the isthmus between the southern and central regions is composed of 400 assorted beasts.
"The Many as One have arrived at the Mountain, numbering 500 mighty, willing beasts."

"It warms my heart to see our numbers regrow," Aleta said, a trace of a smile on her lips. "Caller of the Warpath, how go the defensive preparations?"

"The Mountain and the two isthmuses held by our packs are all now heavily fortified, providing a considerable defensive bonus to our beasts should they be attacked. At this time it is difficult to augment the fortifications further in these locations. If we are to construct further defenses, we must expand to new locations or establish new outposts."

"Aye," the Swift Hunter concurred. "I bring word of the deeds of the Overseers. They sent multiple saboteurs and spies in search of the Prophet's Mountain, but we were able to prevent them from gaining knowledge of our current location."

"We have grown much in these times," Aleta said proudly. She clenched her fist. "Soon the traitors will know our wrath. Packleaders, reassemble here on the 12th."

I belive that our defense is strong enough for us to make some moves, brothers and sisters. First of all, i dont think that we should engage with mroe enemies such at the Decendants, i suggest we send some scouts to talk with them, surely they dont want war either but maybe the angels are offering them something. If we do not succed, we should at least leave some kind of defence at the rift to reish, hopefully the defense we have established and a few extra one of the manys will do, if someone thinks otherwise im happy to hear them out. As i said previously, we have a lot of troops, we should continue to expand them while also atacking the overseers, we have to take them down sooner or later. On another note, i think that recruiting Hidden by the clouds will also be very important, i say that we put some research into adding him to the pack, his strenght will be needed. I think it is a good idea to keep peace with the Decendants. Lets keep on strengthening our forces. I will join my scouts for the search of Hidden by Clouds and I will try to recruit him. Also maintaining a tight security has help us in keeping saboteurs and spies at bay and I intend to keep it that way.

TURN 5

"I bring grave news," Aleta intoned. "Broodlord Prozac has been slain. He was inspecting the defenses at the isthmus between the south and the central regions of the continent when the humans of the Flame Dawn attacked. The Broodlord valiantly led the defense during the battle. The humans were vicious and brutal in their offensive, but thanks to Prozac's leadership the defenses were able to hold. Between the losses and the recruitment occurring under the Broodlord's guidance, the fifth pack has been reduced to only 350 assorted beasts."

You shook your heads in mourning. "My scouts have begun to track down the Hidden by Clouds," the Swift Hunter offered. "They are beginning to close in and tell me that they're about 20% of the way towards recruiting it to our cause. Moreover, my scouts followed the Flame Dawn warriors back towards their base. They have built a fortress at the Rift to Talich, although it is not yet heavily fortified."

Suddenly a new beast strode into the council's grove. "Caretaker," he said, kneeling. "The Prophet LargeNuggets has been slain."

You gasped in shock. "The Prophet, slain?" Sonic asked, taken aback.

The beast nodded. "I am Zinall, the Prophet's chosen successor. He was leading an assault on Solace's Gate itself. The Prophet took the Pack of Many with him in their swift attack, but they were rebuffed by the angels' defenses and suffered many losses before digging in to besiege the position. My apologies for my lateness; I only just arrived from the battlefield."

Aleta gestured for the beast to rise. "Prophet Zinall, thank you for joining this council. We have suffered many losses of late." Her eyes hardened. "They will not go unavenged."

"Thank you, Caretaker."

"I have been speaking with representatives from the Jade Warriors," Sonic said. "While relations between us are still strained, we were able to avoid an immediate war and I am certain that with more effort we can turn them into our allies."

"With the Broodlord slain," the Swift Hunter said, "it has fallen to me to keep track of our packs and their numbers. The first pack, the proud Vulpines, was attacked by the Overseers at the isthmus between the central and eastern regions of the continent. They sustained many losses but held their ground. Between the further breeding of this species--the last of their kind, it is to be noted--they are now only 200 strong.
"The second pack, of Skraar's mighty line, remains at the Mountain and is still 70 beasts strong.
"The third, the Hulkers who hold the Mountain's slopes, remain 400 strong.
"The fifth pack, holding the southern isthmus against the crimson knights, has fallen to only 350 assorted beasts."

"If I may," the Prophet Zinall cut in, "the sixth pack, those of Many, are now only 400 strong following the losses suffered during the assault on Solace's Gate."

"Thank you," Aleta said. "The angels' saboteurs have been hard at work, and our security teams were uncharacteristically inept in defending against their efforts. I have been informed that a portion of the defenses at the isthmus between the central and eastern regions has been destroyed, reducing the defensive advantage held by the Vulpines there (but not eliminating it). Likewise, I suspect that Overseers spies were able to discern of the Prophet's attack and prepare against it, leading to his death, although I cannot confirm this."

"These times have been hard," the Caller of the Warpath noted. "We must meet again soon. Let's return by the 26th with our budget proposals. Prophet Zinall, welcome to the council of packleaders."

I understand the qualms the council may have about my inexperience, as such i will prove myself a capable prophet.

TURN 6

Aleta was absent from the meeting of the packleaders, sent to personally speak with the Hidden by Clouds about its recruitment into the Warpath. In her stead, Sonic, the Caller of the Warpath, led the meeting.

"Packleaders, these are difficult times. Our forces besieging Solace's Gate began to fortify their position even as they were attacked by the treacherous angels. Much to the Overseers' dismay, the Many as One fought valiantly and threw them back. 200 Angels were slain while our own losses were negligible. Cries of 'For the Prophet!' resounded throughout the Calamity's crater. In the south, the pack holding the isthmus was attacked by the soldiers of the Flame Dawn. The battle was bitter, and once the attackers were driven off the pack sallied forth and began to assault the Empire's forward base. During a bloody battle, the pack was driven back to the Isthmus. 150 beasts were slain, but the Flame Dawn suffered heavy losses as well, losing 600 soldiers. Prophet Zinall, can you brief us on the diplomatic situation?"

"Of course, Caller," Zinall responded. "Fellow packleaders, we are now allied with the warriors of Jade, who call themselves the Descendants of the Dragon. They have chosen not to attack us and are willing to grant us passage through the rift to the dark land of Reish. With some more diplomatic prodding, they may even declare war on the angels and fight alongside us. Our attempts to negotiate with the Hidden by Clouds have proceeded well, and the Caretaker tells me that the mighty beast is 80% of the way to joining our side."

"Excellent," the Swift Hunter said. "My scouts have located the Flame Dawn's base near the Rift to the world of Talich. With further information we may be able to learn more about their defenses. The pack dispositions are as follows:
"The Vulpines hold the central-eastern isthmus and number 200
"Skraar's line rests at the Mountain and numbers 70
"The Hulkers defend the Mountain's slopes and number 400
"The pack defending the central-southern isthmus is composed of 300 assorted beasts following further efforts to grow their numbers.
"400 of the Many are currently besieging Solace's Gate in the Calamity Crater."

"Good work, everyone," Sonic said. "Let's get in our budgets before the 3rd."

I agree, hidden by clouds will be on our side by tomorrow. With the decendants on our side, theyshould be able to hold down the flame dawn while we get the angels, flame dawn's atack is nothing against the DoD's defense. Meanwhile we should continue our push on the solace gate. With that said, below is my budget

TURN 7

At this meeting, Aleta alone spoke. The Caretaker was determined, her voice flat, hard, and imperative.

"Packleaders, the battle against the Overseers still rages. The Many encamped outside of Solace's Gate were attacked, but they threw off their attackers with ease, leaving 200 angels dead. Then they sallied forth and assaulted the Gate, but due to the defenses the angels were able to repulse them. 200 more angels were slain in the process, but we lost 100 of our own. The Many fell back to their entrenched position and now number 350 thanks to additional recruits.

"At the south-central isthmus, the pack of assorted beasts was attacked by the knights of gold but repulsed them, leaving 200 slain without suffering any significant losses. Combined with recruitment, they now number 350 strong.

"At the central-eastern isthmus the Vulpines are now accompanied by auxiliaries sent by our allies amongst the Jade Warriors. They number 200 and have 500 monks accompanying them.

"Meanwhile, at the Mountain of the Prophet LargeNuggets (may he live on in our memories), the 70 Skraars and 400 Hulkers are now joined by the massive Hidden by Clouds, who will now allow us to recruit others of his kind.

"Although the Overseers attempted to sabotage us, they failed to do so thanks to the efforts of our security packs." Her voice softened. "I am sorry for the lateness of this meeting, packleaders, and the abruptness of the next, but please be prepared to return by the 17th."

TURN 8

The Caller of the Warpath beamed. "A great victory this week, packleaders."

"Tempered by losses," the Swift Hunter cut in. "The victories took their toll. In the south, the assorted beasts holding the isthmus against the Flame Dawn fought another bloody battle, with 100 lost on both sides. We've stepped up breeding measures there to compensate, but even so we were only able to maintain their numbers at 350 beasts. And before the attack, the Overseers assaulted the Many besieging Solace's Gate and slew 200, leaving only 150 of the Many to hold the now seized Gate."

"Nevertheless," Sonic replied, "Hidden By Clouds smashed through the Overseers' fortifications and brought down many of their elite angels, slaying 250 and forcing a retreat just before collapsing from his wounds. Although he did not fall, the Hidden By Clouds will be unable to fight next turn. We now hold Solace's Gate.

"Our diplomatic efforts have been similarly successful. The Jade Warriors who fight by our side now number 1000 ready men and women, far more trustworthy than the fickle knights of gold who even now assault our southern holdings and destroy the land."

"Agreed," the Swift Hunter said. "Our security teams prevented the Flame Dawn's commandos from sabotaging our efforts, and our forces are secure. The Mountain remains protected and hidden, guarded by the 400 Hulkers and 70 beasts of Skraar's proud lineage. The 200 Vulpines still hold the central-eastern isthmus. Though we have suffered losses this past week, we have been victorious."

The assembled packleaders roared. "For the Warpath!"

"Let's get our budgets in by the 31st," Sonic announced. "I have a good feeling about the future, packleaders."

I have come across a rumor that a rebel is among the Overseers. It is my understanding that Overseers themselves may be able to seal the rifts. If we could get the rebel on our side then we could succeed in closing the rift at the calamities epicenter. Then the Overseers won't bother us no more. I believe we should seek out the rebel and bring tribal medicine to our Hidden By Clouds so that he may recover. Also we need to keep up our defenses for now.

I agree about the defense part, swift hunter, as hidden by clouds is currently beign healed. The angels will have to regroup so our defense should be focused stopping the Flame Dawn.Security is important as always, and the monks are doing a great job defending, so we should continue having a good relationship with them. With that said, below is my budget

TURN 9

The Caretaker looked around. "I have returned from the south-central isthmus," she said gravely. "We are hard-pressed by the Flame Dawn's knights. Eight times they launched an assault on the isthmus, and we were nearly overcome. It was bloody and bitter fighting, and I am requesting that further reinforcements be directed to the isthmus. We lost 200 assorted beasts and only thanks to renewed breeding do we have enough beasts to hold the isthmus--200, thankfully. If the Flame Dawn continues to escalate its assaults we will be assuredly overrun.

"The Many holding Solace's Gate have also augmented their numbers, rising to 200. They guard Hidden By Clouds' recovering form.

"The Mountain is still protected by the 400 Hulkers and 70 members of Skraar's line.

"The monks of Jinhai have sent even more soldiers to our side and await your command. Currently 750 of them hold the central-eastern isthmus with the 200 Vulpines, while 750 more help defend Solace's Gate. All four of our positions are heavily fortified and cannot be fortified further at this time."

The Swift Hunter stepped forward. "Thank you, Caretaker, for your news. My scouts have scoured the world and even delved into Solace in an attempt to locate a rumored rebel faction amongst the Overseers but were unable to find anything."

"That is most unfortunate," Sonic, the Caller of the Warpath, said. "However, I have news that our security teams have once again diligently countered two schemes of the Flame Dawn which sought to sabotage our operations."

"Hidden By Clouds will be ready to fight now," Aleta said. "Once more the world will tremble before his might."

"Right," Sonic nodded. "I suggest that we file our budgets by the 7th."

The mountain has enough protection and has never been atacked so far, i suggest we move some of the troops to the south-central isthmus to defend from the flame dawn. Additionally, we will have most of the Jinhai go there as well. We will keep a strong defense there while Hidden by Clouds is destroying the angels. With that said i dont think we want any more of the Jinhai but we will keep beign friendly with the decendants. With that said, below is my budget

We are going to need a strong offensive on Flame Dawn. Sometimes the best defense is offense. I'm still going to try to find the rebel to help us. Other than that I agree with your plan Sonic.

TURN 10

The Caller of the Warpath howled in welcome. "I bring news of our wars in the south, packleaders. The Flame Dawn's elite knights assaulted our defenses, defenses manned by our allies of jade. As in all of their assaults, the Flame Dawn's attack was brutal and hard-fought, but they were repelled with great losses--800 of their own knights littered the battlefield, alongside 800 of the warrior-monks of Jinhai.

"Personally taking command of the situation with the 400 Hulkers I had brought down from the Mountain, I led an assault upon the base of the golden knights. Our Hulkers roared into their defenses, scattering the puny humans and inflicting a further 700 casualties upon them, while only losing 150 of our own. In the aftermath of these defeats, the Flame Dawn has retreated through the Rift to the world they call Talich, which our forces now guard."

"Very well done, packleader," the Caretaker smiled. "You have cast the outsiders from our world, and will no doubt do so again should they dare to set foot upon this untamed soil."

The Swift Hunter spoke up. "Although we were still unable to locate any more than just rumors of a rebel faction amongst the angels, our security teams were once again able to halt a variety of sabotage attempts by the cowardly Overseers. They dared not attack Solace's Gate while Hidden By Clouds holds it.

"The dispositions of our packs is as follows:
Defending the Mountain, 70 of Skraar's mighty beasts.
Holding the Rift to Talich, 350 Hulkers
Defending the South-Central Isthmus, 400 Monks and 200 Assorted Beasts
Holding Solace's Gate, Hidden By Clouds, 250 Monks, and 200 of Many
Defending the Central-Eastern Isthmus, 200 Vulpines."

The Caretaker smiled. "Packleaders, you have my thanks. I will update you on your final turn shortly."

Now that we have driven out the Flame Dawn and the Overseers, we can focus on finding the rebel and hope she has the means to seal the rift. I will go on an expedition with my scouting team to try to find her. Our defending forces should be able to keep things safe around the rifts and our security team now can monitor who comes in and out of our world through the rifts.

TURN 11

With the Flame Dawn cast back through the rifts whence they came and Solace's Gate seized, the time had come. The Swift Hunter's scouts poured into the overplane of Solace, searching for the rumored rebel whilst the Caller of the Warpath led the battle front, with the Hidden by Clouds as the vanguard. Beasts of the Untamed World and monks of Reish were invading the heavenly plane.

Solace was immense, with valleys, glens, lakes, rivers, and in the distance, the Overseers' training grounds, where angels were reformed, trained, and sent on missions to die only to reform again. The scoutbeasts' senses were thrown all awry by the strange world and they did their best to mark their trails as they explored, following twists and turns in the landscape while they sought the rebel conclave.

At the front of Sonic's army, angel skirmishers fought as they ran before the Warpath's might, their lightcasters searing into fur and flesh but failing to slow the packleaders' force. For every step forward Hidden by Clouds and the other beasts of the vanguard took, the Overseers were forced to wing backwards, conceding more and more ground. Many fell, their souls returning into stasis to await the day they reformed.

Aleta marched with the main force of the army, concern written across her face. If every Overseer that fell would merely reform, how could they win? If the immense overplane of Solace was filled with angels, why were they ceding ground so easily? Why wasn't there a more significant source of resistance? And then she realized: they were being lured in, lured into a battle and a war they could not win.

Not without the Rebel's help. The Swift Hunter's scouts, who had been looking for her for so long, finally found Lilariah that day. "Please, we need your help," the Swift Hunter said. "The Overseers betrayed us and hunted us down, but we cannot kill them forever. Help them become the protectors that they once were, so we can end this war."

Lilariah had smiled. "That is my goal. Where Sol brings oppression in the name of order, I will spread hope. Where he destroys and purifies, I will allow new life to take flight. It is time to end Sol's dogma. I will go with your forces to confront them."

And so Lilariah and her rebels joined the Warpath's army. As they approached the Overseers' central base, the resistance grew more intense. Multiple celestial dragons swarmed Hidden by Clouds, and even with Hulkers armed with bows the mighty beast eventually went down beneath their onslaught, though it downed three dragons in the process. The battle raged between the Warpath and the Overseers, with many falling on both sides.

Then, suddenly, a figure emerged from the melee, a lone angel with wings of black and white. Sol.

Seeing him, Lilariah charged, and soon they disappeared into the renewed flurry of the battle. As night fell in the overplane and the exhausted forces of both sides retreated, it was still unclear if there had been a victory--to the duel or to the battle.

Aleta, a caretaker once again, looked over the vast array of wounded. So many had fallen, and so many more were injured. It was impossible to tell how many beasts were still able-bodied and would be ready to fight the following day. One thing was certain: the Warpath would never give up, never surrender. And neither would Sol.

Thank you, Packleaders, for your efforts in revitalizing the Warpath.
