Because yes this deserves its own topic!
see original thread http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=63679.0
voting here http://www.mmobomb.com/2014-fans-choice-awards2#
Long story short, mmobomb is currently running votes for games of the year of various categories. For DCGs (they listed them as TCGs? for some reason). Predictably Hearthstone carried a huge lead. Somewhat less predictably IW was the runner up and was crushing everything else.
At the time of this post our votes have reached a tie with Hearthstone! at 45% each.
Seriously guys we can legitimately win this, lets make it happen!
P.S. you don't have to register to leave comments so make sure you do. Even if we don't win let's let people know how awesome IW is.
-
Wow, I'd have bet money against this happening. Glad to be wrong!
-
This really does go to show how awesome of a community we have (or that we'll just do what people tell us) either way good job guys. Voting ends on monday so keep it up
-
Hype!
-
Very cool to see everyone voting! Some of the people who comment against Infinity Wars make me cringe, but that's okay because it's obvious that the community and many others fancy the game over many of the other "F2P" games. I must roll my eyes everytime I see a person write that Infinity Wars has Pay to Win decks. Hell, there are even free weekly decks! haha.
-
Bump/hype/+1/+∞/etc. Still tied.
This thread should be stickied lol.
... why yes, I did have to Google the infinity loop symbol.
-
Go go go infinity wars you can do it!

Yeah, originally I was just going to vote and keep it at that but when I saw some of the stuff people were saying about P2W I had to leave a comment of my own.
-
Nicely done, bit more flair than mine. I likewise simply could not let that one go...
-
Wow, i didnt think this was possible either, i thought a swarm of blind fans and blizzard fanboys will overthrow anything. Seems like i was proven wrong, fingers crossed for IW winning! :D
-
Just goes to show a great community can give a fanboy community a run for it's money. ;)
That or IW is clearly better and just needs more effort to really show it. XD
-
Just checked, Infinity Wars 46% Heathstone 45%!!!
-
Is this real life? :o
Also proud to see 7 infinity wars players comment IN A ROW. Good job us! :)

Just goes to show how a dedicated group of players can skew the results of a poll away from a representative sample of the population if they really really want to.

Yes and no. Clearly Infinity Wars players are more passionate about their game of choice than Hearthstone players. The poll was about what is the BEST card game not which has the biggest player base. If the question was which game has more players there wouldn't need to be a poll. But the fact that Infinity Wars has more fan boys than a game with hundreds of times more players is a great testament to the quality of the respective games.
Or maybe we are just all crazy over here. Thats a distinct possibility ::)
-
I don't deny being crazy.
-
Electro13, the insane. Needs to be a title.
-
Never denied being crazy (or being a dragon ;) ). Now let's see if we can hold the lead through the weekend. Can't let up now. :D
-
IW 46%, HS 44%. They went down. Good.
-
Great going everyone, it's wonderful to see.
and as I've always said, if you weren't a bit crazy in this world, you'd go mad! ;)
-
On one hand, Lightmare is bodying the living puffy out of Blizzard (47% vs 43%) which is awesome. On the other hand, it's a poll of roughly 2k people. Is MMObomb even well known? I know for sure i hadn't heard of it before this.
Anyway, not trying to take merit off of LM's current lead, especially because IW is the superior game indeed, but perhaps a poll should be made in a site where more people are aware of it.
-
Ah but we didn't make the poll. They did. It's our good fortune that they put us on the list.
-
Mmobomb has been around for a while. If someone was an mmo junkie like myself and they have to use third party websites to find which ones are good than they have probably come across this site. It may not be as well known as some sites but it isnt just some random startup game blog run in someones basement.
-
IW 47% HS 43% by the latest vote dudes! ;D
-
MMOBomb.com has been around for years and is actually THE best 3rd party site for F2P games.
Oh puffy, it seems a wild Phaedros has appeared, someone go fetch a Master Ball...
Anyways, I'll keep voting like a crazed N*Sync fangirl requesting their hot new single on TRL... (Warning - If you did not grow up in the 90s you may be exposed to my pure awesome.)
See you guys in the victory circle or at the after party celebration. :)

Dont let him get away this time! Quick catch him ill nom his wings off! ::)
-
IW 48% Hearthstone 43%, yep I'm gonna report on every change I see. ;D
-
IW 48%, RNGstone 42%!
-
Also, many Russian players hate Blizzard right now because from today's morning boosters and arena have their cost in roubles increased twice in compare to yesterday's prices and there were no official warnings that something like that should happen.
None of them would vote for HS now, I suppose.
-
RNGstone down to 41%, IW holding steady at 48%! :)
-
Hearthstone never had a chance o7
-
RNGstone down to 41%, IW holding steady at 48%! :)
How is HS any more RNG orientated than Infinity Wars?

I've heard that HS top tier games are won and lost more often on draws then skill. That might be why
-
I think they got rid of it's function because too many "pros" complained, but there used to be a legendary card in HS that was 50/50 chance to draw a card each turn and could be played on turn 2. Such skill.
-
49 -41 :P
-
Remember when that Solforge streamer analysed all these games and funnily enough rated Solforge the highest and Infinity Wars the lowest (Or one of the lowest I cant remember). Anyway in conclusion... LOL ::)
-
RNGstone down to 41%, IW holding steady at 48%! :)

Not much cards in IW have random outcome after you use them. At least 40%-50% cards from the new set in HS have very random effects, and many of them could be a real game changer. HS had cards like that before but after the GvG (the new set) there are much more of them.
-
HS's new expansion should be titled "RNGstone: RNG vs You"
When I last played IW there was no RNG besides card draws, Hearthstone had several RNG effects pre-GvsG, most of GvsG's cards are RNG based, thus Hearthstone truly became RNGstone. :/
It truly is a shame Blizzard threw away HS's credibility as a competitive dCCG.
Also, IW 49% to RNGstone's 41%

Well, IW does have some rng, mostly in the exiles faction. But yeah, its nowhere near the amount of RNG involved in Hearthstone, especially after Goblins v Gnomes. And the command zone and trading post can be very helpful in making you less dependent on luck of the draw by giving you a few guaranteed cards and letting you put unused resources to use.

I have not played the new Hearthstone expansion - I stopped right after Nax was released and I hit Legendary. I can say that a lot of games of Hearthstone seemed extremely coin flippy to me, even when my opponent played sub optimally he could still just randomly win.
For the most part I feel that IW RNG is much less prevalent in determining the outcome of a match (outside of turn one wealthy nobles in mirror matches). In fact, with a properly built IW deck in a high level match, I would compare the board and game interactions to Chess more than anything else.
-
A lot of RNG from Hearthstone kinda comes from how all the decks sort of play themselves. There is almost always a "best move" and so when this happens and the decks are the same in how strong they are, it really just comes down to who drew the right cards or had the right effects happen to the right stuff.
-
49% to 40%. About time, we've been on total 101% for ages lol.
-
We hit 50% of the votes. That's half of the votes!!!
-
Closing in on the final 24 hours of the voting and still holding strong.
-
Much excite, many hype.

Much excite, many hype.
I'd say there's at least 7 hype here. AT LEAST.
-
50% to 39% in our favor against RNGstone, less than 24 hours remain, keep it up.

My calculations put it at approximately 42
-
Less than 2 hours to go before polls close, IW 50%, RNGstone 38%
-
on the Home stretch, here's hoping it holds.
-
So the voting is all done at this point I'm pretty sure, IW hit the 50% mark.
Teremus I hope you're still keeping up with this thread, just so you notice this, maybe you can send them a message. The actual infinity wars review page on their website is a bit out of date.
http://www.mmobomb.com/review/infinity-wars
They have the game listed as still in beta, which might be a bit confusing when people look at the page after the results come out. Also there is a disturbing lack of outside reviews on the page.
-
Rickashay,
Thank you for saying so. At the beginning of the poll I noticed the same thing and have already reached out to them as of a week ago with updated information, as well as the means to contact me.
Hopefully they are inclined to.
-
It would really be in their best interest to. Especially now that we've likely won for the DCG category of 2014.
